(I am sorry, I will listen next time.)

This e-mail.

I guess we will laugh about this in 20 years. And the letter is a piece of art. But then so is Hana.

Fank You

I (Hana’s mom) was out for the day, which inspired Hana to declare her undying devotion to me (and the rest of the family. The fact that I am depicted as the mother bird sitting on a nest pleases me to no end.

I did have some worries about this part though (see below); "fac you fac you." And that with a serene smile on top! Were we going to need a lengthy conversation about how certain words cannot be used (balloon words Hana calls them)? And where did she pick that kind of language up anyway? (Probably her mom).

But before I was going to lecture her, I figure I’d have her read it out loud, and see if that caused her any embarrassment. And the conversation went as follows:

“What does this say, Hana?”
“Fank you,  fank you.”
Oh dear, bad mom I am. I assumed the worst. But now it made total sense; Hana has no front teeth at the moment, and cannot say the ‘th’ sound properly (which has been something of an issue longer than the front teeth have gone).

So her ‘thank you’ has been reduced to a ‘fank you’, and the ‘nk’ apparently sounds the same as the k or c.
